Curly Kale is pale to deep green with large, frilly-edged leaves and long stems. Put it in salad (using our softening tips), sauté, toss it in a hearty bean soup, or blend it in a fruit smoothie.
To massage kale, remove the stem from the kale with a knife, or just pull it from the stem with your hands. Discard stem and chop kale into small pieces and place into a large salad bowl. Coat the kale in oil and salt and start massaging the kale with your hands. You really want to break the kale down, so really work the kale with your fingers by pinching and squeezing the kale for about 3-4 minutes. Once the kale is tender and soft, your job is done.
